About MARSH FARM
How we can help you and your community
The Marsh Farm Community Development Trust was set up to manage the Government’s New Deal for Communities (NDC) regeneration programme in Marsh Farm.
Since it began in 2001 the Trust has supported numerous individuals, projects and initiatives across the estate including bursaries, improved lighting and CCTV, health education, and improved neighbourhood policing helping to:
- reduce levels of crime
- improve education standards across all age groups
- improve health
- improve housing and the environment
- tackle unemployment issues
The Trust is a Company Limited by Guarantee and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is made up of local residents and representatives of local organisations including the Council, Bedfordshire Police, University of Bedfordshire and the Primary Care Trust. All resident Board Directors are elected through a democratic process that is open to everyone who lives in Marsh Farm.
When the present NDC programme comes to an end in less than two years time the Legacy Organisation, the Marsh Farm Community Resource (MFCR), a self supporting organisation, will replace the Marsh Farm Community Development Trust.
This organisation will develop and manage the Community Enterprise Resource Centre and continue the work of this valuable resource in the heart of the Marsh Farm community
The MFCDT vision
‘To achieve a pioneering, forward looking, sustainable and capable community which is able to work and enjoy a quality of life that is full of opportunity and optimism’
