Organisational Workshops

Title Still required

The Organisation Workshop is a new style of employment and enterprise. Based on the theory and practice of Brazilian sociologist and social activist Clodomir Santos De Morais this model has delivered sustainable enterprises in Brazil, Southern Africa and Latin America.

One hundred Marsh Farm residents will take part in a paid eight week intensive “learning on the job” programme with 12 weeks after support. They will organise themselves into fully operating enterprises with the tools, equipment and a number of contracts to deliver. They will not only learn the skills of the job but those of running a business all in a real world environment whilst being mentored by onsite professionals.

This process will establish 11 social enterprises on the estate employing 87 long-term hard to reach unemployed people to improve the skills of jobseekers in the current economic climate.

This project is a culmination of more than seven years work by Marsh Farm Outreach CIC. In total the project will cost just over £1m with £130,000 match funded by the Learning and Skills Council.

Turning Corners, the NDC funded employment agency, will also be involved and will offer continued support to the participants.
