Marsh Farm Community Development Trust was set up to manage the Government’s New Deal for Communities (NDC) regeneration programme in Marsh Farm.

In 2001 £48.8 million NDC funding was awarded to Marsh Farm over a ten- year period to improve the area.

By 2011 the Trust will deliver real improvements for the people living in the neighbourhood, by tackling five key areas:

  • Poor job prospects
  • High levels of crime
  • Educational underachievement
  • Poor health
  • Problems with housing and the physical environment

The Trust is a Company Limited by Guarantee and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is made up of local residents and representatives of local organisations including the Council, Bedfordshire Police and the Primary Care Trust. All resident Board Directors are elected through a democratic process that is open to all residents of the Marsh Farm estate.
