Marsh Farm

The Marsh Farm NDC area falls within two council wards - Northwell and Sundon Park.
Planned in the mid 1960's, Marsh Farm is a mixture of private and public sector housing. Marsh Farm has five schools, two nurseries, a shopping centre, lots of green open spaces and community facilities. Click here for services in Marsh Farm.
Our NDC area also includes a section of Leagrave Park. It is the site of a Mesolithic camp that dates back as far as 3000BC. As a part of the Marsh Farm Master Plan, the Trust will be maximising the heritage opportunities of the site. Click here for details.
The NDC area consists of:
- 3,200 households
- a total population in the region of 9000
- a population biased towards the younger age groups, with 26% aged under 16, and 7% over 65 (compared to the national figures of 21% and 18% respectively).
The current community is diverse and since the 1991 census, the number of residents from black and other ethnic communities has risen to approximately one third of the overall estate population.
The major ethnic groups are:
- British - 69%
- African-Caribbean - 10%
- Pakistani - 6%
- Bangladeshi - 4%
The main languages spoken are:
- English only - 82%
- English as a main but not sole language - 13%
- Do not have English as a main language - 4%
- English and Gujarati -17%
- English and Urdu - 11%
- English and Bengali 9%
