Fun for all at the Marsh Farm Festival

The Marsh Farm Festival on Saturday 18th July was a huge success with residents turning out in hundreds to enjoy a fun packed day filled with entertainment.

This year’s festival was the busiest yet and even people from outside the area came to see what Marsh Farm had to offer. Children had the chance to play on giant inflatables and rides while the adults browsed the many stalls that were present.

The Youth Forum stage was very popular and showcased a diverse range of talent. The first act of the day came from local soul star George Anthony who got the crowd clapping with a tribute to Michael Jackson’s ‘Man in the Mirror’.

At 1.30pm the Youth Forum stage turned back the clock to a time of slicked back hair and teddy boys by showcasing an excellent Buddy Holly tribute from Spencer Jorden, which pleased the older generation of the crowd.

Local superstars and Marsh Farm residents ‘Voices with Soul’ made their annual appearance, much to the delight of the crowd, which suddenly got a lot bigger when they took to the stage. They performed many songs but most notably Sister Sledge’s ‘We are family’ that seemed quite fitting for the close-knit community of Marsh Farm.

As well as entertainment residents had the chance to catch up with the Marsh Farm Community Development Trust and ask questions relating to the positive developments in the area. Many residents expressed that they were looking forward to the new Community Enterprise and Resource Centre, which work will start on in August.

Dave Creen, Chairman of the MFCDT board said: “It’s good to hear about the positive feedback from residents and that they are excited about the new developments. The festival gets better every year and its good to see the community out together having a fun time.”
