Lea Manor becomes a voice in the community
Lea Manor High School has teamed up with Marsh Farm Community Development Trust, the local community and their partners to launch Community Voice one of the biggest multi agency partnerships in Luton.
Twenty six local groups and community organisations have come together under the government’s duty to promote community cohesion and provide a range of services from the school site, often beyond the school day. The aim of Community Voice is to clarify their work, what services they provide, how they can work together and how they can further contribute to the local community.
Montell Neufville the partnership manager at the Marsh Farm Trust who helped the school put together the new Community Voice committee, said: “The site will be open by the end of 2011 and provide the whole community with a range of services which will include a community Library, café, music, IT and additional sports facilities, arts and dance facilities.
John Salusbury Deputy head of Lea Manor said “The Lea Manor High School campus is currently being redeveloped under the Building Schools for the Future programme and will include a new library and theatre. These will join up with the Marsh Farm Children’s Centre, Marsh Farm Youth Club and the adult education centre which are already based on the site creating a new hub centre of the community.”
