Latest news on new CERC from Volkerfitzpatrick

The new CERC building is starting to take shape. The demolition of the old building will reveal over the next few weeks the new structure that is being constructed behind. There is a lot of work to be completed over the next six months, but it is already possible to see that the central double height atrium, with its glazed roof, will be an impressive area at the heart of the community space.

Once the old building is demolished work will start on the play park at the front of the building, which will be “fast tracked” to be completed at the same time as the rest of the building.

VolkerFitzpatrick have given a high priority to employing residents from Luton in general, and Marsh Farm in particular. Over half the construction contracts have been placed with local companies, and Marsh Farm residents have been employed on the project. In addition, Ridgemont Training has provided almost all the bricklayers and decorators.
