Networking to help young people

A networking event is being hosted by the Marsh Farm Community Development Trust for professionals who work with children and young people.

The event will give everyone the opportunity to share ideas and offer practical advice on consulting with and involving young people. Two national organisations, the Young Advisors charity and the Community Development Foundation have put forward a joint approach on how to encourage more young people to voice their needs whilst playing an active and positive role in their communities.

Montell Neufville the MFCDT Partnership manager knows that there are many organisations that have a responsibility for engaging children and young people, he said: “These include not only youth managers and youth workers, but also elected members and managers of community development organisations, housing associations and voluntary groups. The event will help everyone understand youth engagement. Those who attend will also be looking at tools which can them help encourage young people to be involved in decision making”

The conference will be held on February 11 from 11 am to 4pm at the CERC, The Moakes Marsh Farm Luton. Places are limited so if you’re a professional working with young people and would like to attend register online as soon as possible at www.youngadvisors.org.uk/seminar.html For more information contact Montell Neufville on 01582 586111 or email montell.neufville@mfcdt.co.uk
